Lotus is the brand that holds the record for the production of these biscuits, called precisely Speculoos, which have literally marked the history of Belgium. In fact, they were prepared during the Christmas holidays and only later was it decided to give greater visibility to these biscuits, particularly appreciated for their taste and their melting. The idea of crumbling them to the point of making them a spreadable cream came to Els Scheppers, a chocolate-coated man who reached the semi-final during a television inventors' show. It was then Lotus that bought his idea and produced the cream on the market and especially the topping that literally melts in the mouth.
