And to think that when they were created, in 1976, there were only 8 variants (cherry, lemon, cream, mandarin, green apple, root beer, grape and licorice) and their name was chosen based on the fact that they are soft sweetmeats (Jelly), but also pot-bellied (Belly). A product created by a brand like Jelly Belly Candy Company absolutely could not remain outside of my selected and valuable catalog of American products. With over 50 different flavors created (and many more in the pipeline, ready to be launched), Jelly Belly is certainly a paragon of virtue in flavor, love and quality. And yet, to think that, during the Second World War, the Jelly Belly company had to adapt - and not a little - due to the shortage of sugar present, which therefore had to be rationed very very well! This lack ignited the creativity of someone who began to think of creating something innovative according to the needs: a mint wafer.
